Material Failure Analysis
|
 |
Conducts root cause analysis of failure on a wide
variety of equipment and structures using state-ofthe-
art metallurgical laboratory. In this activity, how
and why an equipment or a component failed through
systematic investigations involving laboratory tests
as well as review of operational history. Implementable
recommendations are given for avoiding the
recurrence of failures.
 |
Onsite Condition Monitoring
|
 |
The study involves generation of present material
health of the equipment through in-situ metallography,
components (operating above 4000C) such as furnace
tubes, critical pipings, reactors, vessels etc.

Coloured Metallograph of High Alloy Material
A periodic generation of data on the material health
of the equipment can help in a) Increasing the plant
efficiency and productivity by avoiding of premature
failures, b) Predictive maintenance and replacement
planning and c) Safer operation

Remaining Life Assessment & Fitness-for-Purpose
Evaluation
|
 |
| The activity involves qualitative / quantitative prediction
of remaining useful service life of equipment that have
either surpassed their design life or have undergone
mal-operation during their normal service. Depending
on the criticality of operation, studies are conducted to
varying levels that may or may not involve laboratory
studies on cut samples. The study varies from a simple
onsite review of history and data card of the equipment
to laboratory accelerated simulation studies on cut
samples ex. ASRT, IGSCC etc.
